My Triune Nature
We all have three levels of consciousness. We have our physical consciousness: the awareness that our body has of itself and the world around us, and the awareness we have of our body. This includes the things that escape our conscious notice, like the food that’s being processed in our stomach, or the oxygen that travels through our veins, or the state of our nervous system; it also includes the awareness of our physical needs – which we either honour, or repress to the point of not being aware of them anymore: a physical unawareness.
We also have an intellectual consciousness: our conscious awareness, our ratio, our reason, our desire to make sense of things, and our need to give meaning to the events in our life.
And then there’s our spiritual consciousness: our spiritual awareness, the way we experience ourselves in the world around us, as part of ‘something more’; our intuition, our empathy, our dreams and inspiration, and our sense of purpose.
These three levels do not play the same role for everyone. When you’re very sensitive, your physical consciousness is more alert, you’re more physically aware and attuned to details than many others. When your intellectual consciousness is more engaged than that of others, you’ll find you have more questions, there are things you want to know that others don’t seem interested in, your curiosity is different; and if your spiritual consciousness is also activated, you may even be a very deep thinker. It that case, odds are others don’t always get what you’re on about.
Before I recognised my three levels of consciousness for what they are, I noticed how my needs were often opposed to what I (or the people around me) considered acceptable. But even though I tried, I could never ignore those needs.
I could push them down for a few months, but they’d invariably surface. Then, at one point, I began to recognise them, and not long after I began to see the link between those needs and my consciousness levels.
At first I concluded they were ‘just’ aspects, and I decided to name them. But once I named them, they came alive. They felt seen, they felt heard, they felt acknowledged. And they started speaking to me more freely. That’s when I realised they represented entire consciousness levels, and that each level had different – sometimes even opposing – needs.
Naming these parts of myself helped me differentiate between each level and its needs and I deliberately took the time to get to know them. We sat -and still sit- down together, and I ask them, individually, ‘How are you feeling? What do you need? What do you want to achieve today?’ And then we talk.
And then they contradict each other, cos they don’t necessarily want the same thing.
Deeann, my heart/body, my sensory awareness, is motivated by other things than Cindy, my conscious mind, my intellect. And Hermione, my spiritual aspect, my intuition, is in a league of her own.
They are always ‘in it’ together, it’s not that any part of me is not always aware of the other parts, and they always offer their support. When I need to zone in on what a client needs help with, Deeann is the one who feels into them, but Hermione is right there, connecting with spirit for input. And Cindy is right there helping me connect the dots.
But that doesn’t change the fact that they have different needs and desires – and different ways of dealing with things.
So here’s what that looks like with regards to some of my Life Decisions; in this case: the professional ones.

So here’s what that looks like with regards to some of my Life Decisions; in this case: the professional ones.
I’m an HSP-Empath and when people come to me with physical or emotional pain, then my healer aspect, Deeann, instantly makes herself available to help, and we do what it takes to dissolve that pain. I happen to be very good at this, because – being an extreme empath, I can feel it in my own body – and because I’ve experienced so much pain (that, in hindsight, mostly wasn’t mine) I know how to proceed to bring relief.
Being smart as well as sensitive and intuitive has helped me understand how energy works. And while I obviously can’t physically massage you from a distance, I can tell you exactly where to massage yourself, because when you touch you, I can still feel into that and guide you. Also, I can do long distance energy healing on you, because I don’t need to see you to be able to attune and align with you. This means I can have healing sessions with people online; you don’t have to be in my office, you can just be in your own room, and I’ll be in mine – and it makes no difference, because ‘there is no spoon’.
These sessions invariably bring feelings of deep pleasure and fulfillment – and I always want to do more of them, even dedicate my entire practice to them, cos it’s amazing!
Seriously, healing people, making them feel better – it doesn’t get better than that!
Next, a client will explain how she’s at odds with a boss or a partner, and while listening to her words, Cindy swings into action and we start unravelling the client’s belief system, bringing to light those pesky little thoughts that wreak havoc on her relationships.
And before I know it, I really want nothing more than to write the book on how that works! Open up a membership site and help people understand how thoughts affect our experience.
Cindy really can write the book on that! Unravelling belief systems has been her life’s purpose.
Between Deeann’s sensitivity and Cindy’s applied logic, not to mention Hermione’s intuition, I nearly always manage to connect people with their Aha.
And, seriously, helping someone get that aha-moment, it really doesn’t get any better than that.
Oh, wait… didn’t I just say that?
If you’ve ever tried to sell your services, you’ll have heard marketing teachers tell you to zone in on just ONE THING. One client. One Offer.
But between Deeann and Cindy I’ve got four things right there: massage therapy, energy healing, belief systems, and manifesting. Because Cindy has watched Hermione at work and, being Rational, Logical and Methodical, and having refused to embrace -or even allow!- Hermione’s ‘powers’ until she could understand them, Cindy can now also write the book on manifesting and on how energy works. And she really, really wants to do that. (Actually, she’s already started.)
But here’s the thing. Hermione, my spiritual aspect, doesn’t want to do any of the above!
She does not want to be a professional healer, and she does not want to sit down and write a book, or run a membership site.
She wants to walk her talk, make this her best life ever, follow her purpose, her own inner mission, and unravel all there is to unravel.
She wants to sit down with her Council and explore energy, explore life, explore our potential as human beings, and then bring it into the here and now, watch it unfold – and receive. Cos hey, how do you think I manage to be such an amazing healer in the first place. Why do you think I can write the book on belief systems and energy! That’s all Hermione, insisting on bringing it into the here and now.
I always want to walk my talk, so I figure it out, I seek to understand it, I feel into it – and then I implement it, I live it.
Because, really, it really doesn’t get any better than that.
Wait, didn’t I already say that?
Twice?
It’s kinda hard to decide how to express yourself, professionally or otherwise, when there’s always a part of you not agreeing with the others.
But now I know why, so what I currently do on any given day mostly depends on which aspect is in charge. At least they now move in the same direction together, 😁. Until last year they most certainly didn’t: before I figured this out, you could see me turning left, no, right. Forward, no, that way. I’m going to do ‘this’. No, I’m not. Oh, I got it, this is what I’m going to dedicate my life to. No, I don’t want to do that, I want to do this. And that confusion played havoc with me – until I realised what was going on.
I have never felt more empowered than I have since differentiating between my consciousness levels, and approaching them as distinct parts of myself, as distinctive Selves.
These days I can ride the waves of my Trinity, rather than be floored by their opposing needs. I see who’s in charge at any given moment – and why – and I can assess whether that matches where we’re going as a unity – and what to do to adjust course.
Of course Cindy immediately took it upon herself to figure out the what and the why, so that I can actually share this with you; so that I can take it out of the vagueness and into something concrete that can actually help you move forward.
And it’s simple: if you feel that your sensitivity, your spirituality and your intelligence are pulling you in opposite directions, then you’re probably a Triune who needs to learn to balance her three captains.
You will never go in that unequivocal One Direction until you understand who’s in charge. And you’ll never figure out who’s in charge until you familiarise yourself with each of your captains – and until you give each of them the space they need.
